5 First Saturdays Devotion

A Call from Heaven to Console the Heart of Our Mother

In 1917, Our Lady appeared to three shepherd children in Fatima, Portugal, pleading with the world to turn back to God. Among her most urgent requests was devotion to her Immaculate Heart—a devotion meant to bring souls closer to Christ through reparation, love, and mercy.

One of the most powerful expressions of this devotion is the First Five Saturdays Devotion, requested by Our Lady herself and affirmed in her apparition to Sister Lucia in 1925.

What You Must Do (Each First Saturday for 5 Consecutive Months):

  1. Go to Confession
(It may be done up to 8 days before or after, as long as you are in a state of grace when receiving Communion.)
  2. Receive Holy Communion
(Ideally on the First Saturday itself.)
  3. Pray five decades of the Rosary
    (One full set of mysteries.)
  4. Meditate for 15 minutes on the mysteries of the Rosary
(Spend this time with Our Lady, reflecting deeply on any or all of the 15 traditional mysteries.)

💡 Important: These actions must be done with the intention of making reparation for the offenses and blasphemies committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

📜 Summary of Promises from the First Five Saturdays Devotion:

  1. Final Perseverance and Salvation
Our Lady promises the grace of final repentance and salvation—that she will be present at the hour of death with all the necessary graces for the soul to be saved.
  2. Special Assistance at the Hour of Death
Mary personally promises to assist the soul at the moment of death—meaning protection from the devil, help in dying in a state of grace, and the comfort of her presence.
  3. Forgiveness of Sins and Mercy
When the devotion is done with sincere contrition and love, many souls are granted plenary or partial indulgences, and especially the grace of contrition, even for those most hardened in sin.
  4. Mary’s Intercession Throughout Life
Those who commit to this devotion are often given a special closeness to Mary, who intercedes for them throughout life, guiding them to Jesus.
  5. Peace and Conversion of Sinners
By offering reparation to the Immaculate Heart, you participate in consoling Our Lady, which draws graces for poor sinners and helps bring peace to the world—a central goal of the Fatima message.

✨ Additional Graces Often Associated (Though Not Explicitly Promised):

  • Growth in holiness through union with Mary
  • Deepened devotion to the Eucharist and the Rosary
  • Protection from grave sin and occasions of sin
  • Greater clarity and peace in one’s vocation and life
  • Grace to help bring others to salvation through reparation

This devotion is not a superstition or a guaranteed “ticket to Heaven,” but a powerful act of love, reparation, and trust in Mary’s maternal care and her role in God’s plan for salvation.

Why This Devotion Matters

To love Mary is to love Jesus.
To reject Mary is to reject Jesus.

This devotion is not just a private pious act—it’s part of God’s divine plan for the salvation of souls. By participating, you are:

  • Consoling the sorrowful and pierced Heart of Mary
  • Repairing the damage caused by sin and blasphemy
  • Offering intercession for poor sinners
  • Drawing closer to Jesus Christ through His Mother

As Our Lady said:

God wishes to establish in the world devotion to my Immaculate Heart.

The Five Blasphemies That Wound Her Heart

Our Lady revealed that this devotion makes reparation for five grave offenses against her:

  1. Blasphemies against her Immaculate Conception
  2. Blasphemies against her perpetual virginity
  3. Blasphemies against her divine maternity, including denial of her role as Mother of all mankind
  4. Blasphemies that instill indifference, contempt, or hatred for Mary in the hearts of children
  5. Desecration of her holy images (sacrilege and disrespect)

A Final Reflection

“To offend the Blessed Virgin Mary is to offend God and frustrate His plans for the salvation of souls.”

Let us console her sorrowful Heart and honor her requests. The closer we draw to Mary, the closer we come to Jesus. This devotion is a grace-filled path of love, reparation, and eternal hope.
